We are looking to recruit a Probation Officer on a permanent basis. This post could be based anywhere within the Durham Tees Valley area.

You will be highly motivated and dynamic, and possess excellent motivational interviewing and engagement skills, in order to build effective professional relationships with participants (offenders), as well as colleagues and external partner agencies.

Requirements for the role:

  • An appropriate professional qualification: CQSW, Dip SW, Dip PS
  • Recent practice, knowledge and experience of working as a Probation Officer
  • Passionate about supporting participants to rehabilitate and address their offending behaviour
  • Flexible and committed approach to work: enthusiastic, positive, responsive to change
  • Willingness to travel within the Durham Tees Valley Area as required

Volunteer & Peer Mentor Co-ordinator

Hours of work: Permanent - 37 hours per week

Location: Wetherby House, Stockton, with requirement to work across Durham Tees Valley area, including a prison setting

We are looking for a dynamic individual to implement and monitor DTV CRC’s Service User Engagement Strategy; to ensure the participant voice underpins key practices and service delivery.

You will adopt a positive and enthusiastic approach to managing the CRC’s Volunteer and Peer Mentor Scheme and be responsible for the recruitment, training, development and co-ordination of a network of motivated and committed Volunteers and Peer Mentors.

With a focus on improvement you will contribute to the development of a responsive and excellent service, adopting a forward-looking approach to identify future opportunities and possibilities. Working collaboratively as part of a team you will also put your excellent interpersonal skills to use, working in partnership with other organisations.

Requirements for the role:

  • A relevant vocational qualification in Community Justice, DipPS, degree (Psychology, Criminology, Sociology
  • Experience of coordinating/managing schemes involving the use of volunteers and
  • peer mentors.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the role of third sector providers within the criminal justice system and the volunteer/mentor provision.

PA to Chief Executive & Support to Board Chair

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, proactive, forward thinking individual to provide first class administrative, diary management and a high standard of professional support to the Chief Executive Officer, as well as support to the Board Chair.  Liaising with a range of individuals, both internal and external to the CRC, your commitment and professional attitude will see you take on a challenging and varied post where an eye for detail is essential. You will frequently be required to work to tight deadlines and remain calm and professional at all times; whilst managing enquiries on behalf of the CEO in an effective and efficient manner. Your confident telephone manner and experience will allow you to successfully manage demanding customers and you will be proficient at complex electronic diary management and be confident in hosting and escorting visitors, ensuring appropriate arrangements are in hand for the CEO's meetings. You will produce minutes of the Board and other committee meetings, where required, indicating who is responsible for any agreed action with timescales.

The post holder will be politically sensitive and maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion.

To be considered for this role you will:

Programme Tutor

We have an exciting opportunity for an Accredited Programmes Tutor to join our Programmes Team. 

Durham Tees Valley Community Rehabilitation Company (DTV CRC) is an ambitious and innovative organisation that is highly committed to its mission to deliver the best possible outcomes for people coming out of the criminal justice system and supporting them and their communities in participating in a positive future. 

The successful candidate will share the values of DTV CRC and must be trained and accredited to deliver the Building Better Relationships (BBR) Programme.  They will deliver the full range of Accredited Programmes provided by DTV CRC, which includes Thinking Skills Programme (TSP), Drink Impaired Drivers Programme (DID), and Resolve Programme.

DTV also has a number of projects underway to develop and deliver new Non-Accredited Programmes, which are delivered on a group or one to one basis, depending on need. 

The hours of work for this post are 37 hours per week, this will include some evenings and/or weekend work to meet participant needs.

This role will require an Enhanced Vetting Check Level 1.

Programme Support Worker (Sessional)

Hours of Work: Casual – to cover as and when required (no guarantee of minimum hours)

Location: to cover the Durham Tees Valley area

Salary:  £9.03 per hour

We are looking to recruit a Programme Support Worker on a sessional basis. The post holder could undertake work anywhere within the Durham Tees Valley area, driving DTV CRC vehicles (usually a mini-bus) to transport participants, equipment and materials etc.

Working across The Durham Tees Valley Community Rehabilitation Company Limited (DTV CRC), the post holder will work as part of a Programmes Team responsible for ensuring effective delivery of group work programmes which meet the expectation of sentences and participants.  All members of the team work collaboratively to contribute the achievement of targets DTV CRC.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the post holder will primarily be responsible for transporting participants to and from the Programmes Unit from across the DTV CRC area including general maintenance and care of allocated vehicles as required. 

In addition, you will be required to provide a support service to Programme Tutors including providing refreshments and light cleaning duties.

Requirements for the role:

  •  Hold a driving licence, which includes mini bus driving.
  •  Ability to work with difficult and/or demanding people, whilst maintaining professionalism.
  •  Ability to work with, and encourage cooperation from, participants who are working to rehabilitate and address their offending behaviour
  •  Flexible and committed approach to work: enthusiasm and positivity
  •  Willingness to travel within the Durham Tees Valley Area as required

Probation Service Officer (Unpaid Work Supervisor)

Hours of work: Casual – to cover as and when required (no guarantee of minimum hours)

Location: to cover across the Durham Tees Valley area

Salary: £11.42 per hour (plus appropriate unsocial hours payment for weekend working)

We have an exciting opportunity to join Durham Tees Valley CRC’s Unpaid Work Team as a Probation Service Officer.

Probation Service Officers are responsible for assisting in the supervision of groups of up to eight participants who have been directed by the courts to undertake unpaid work which benefits the Community in which they live.This could include work such as painting and decorating, site clearance, environmental work and general construction. As such practical skills in these areas would be advantageous.

The Probation Service Officer has a wide range of responsibilities, which primarily focus on assisting in the delivery of projects to the required standards, and ensuring that the groups of participants work effectively and comply with their Community Order.

The ability to communicate confidently with colleagues and stakeholders is essential as is being able to effectively and positively promote the work of the Unpaid Work Unit and the CRC.
